If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at www.moh.govt.nz.
ACCIDENT INSURANCE The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents, and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at www.acc.co.nz.
MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE All International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand for the duration of their planned period of study this includes:
• Students who will be coming to New Zealand from overseas
• Students who are already in New Zealand and enrolled at a New Zealand education provider
• Students on short courses
• Group students
Study Care is a comprehensive policy that has been designed to meet the suggested minimum requirements under the Code of Practice for International Students.
If you are studying in Australia on a student visa you are required by the government to take out Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This will only cover you for health-related matters whilst abroad. We recommend that you also take out insurance against theft and loss of belongings.
In New Zealand, the government requires that all overseas students have insurance which meets the government minimum requirements. If you choose not to take out Study Care insurance, your alternative insurance must meet these minimum standards.
